FOYLE CUP 2010
Our 12, 14 and 16 Premier were involved in this years Tesco Foyle Cup which took place during the last week of July in and around the City of Derry. Our 12’s reached the semi final of the Foyle Cup with group wins over Newhill F C (3-1), Downpatrick Y L (3-1) and Institute F C (2-0). In the quarter final they defeated Dungannon F C (2-0) which set up a semi final tie with Linfield F C where they unfortunately came out on the wrong side of a penalty shoot out after a 0-0 draw in normal time, they eventually finished 3rd by beating Derry & District (3-0) in the 3rd & 4th place play off.
Our 14’s were unfortunate to be drawn in the same group as Celtic F C and despite having beaten Newhill (6-0) and Downpatrick Y L (4-0) they found Celtic just a little too good on the day and went down 0-2 which put them into the Plate section of the Foyle Cup Tournament. In the quarter final of the Plate they defeated Ards F C (5-0) and played Derry & District in the semi final losing 2-1 they eventually finished 3rd by defeating CET Spain (9-0) in the 3rd & 4th place play off.
Our 16’s came through their group undefeated with wins over Loughgall F C (2-0) CET Spain (3-0) and Derry & District (1-0) which set up a quarter final against Dungannon F C which they duly won 3-1, they unfortunately were subsequently defeated in the semi final (0-1) by the North Easter Counties, they played Hull City in the 3rd and 4th place play off and finished 4th having being defeated 4-2 by Hull.
