Our 10A Sunday and our 13 Premier both had convincing wins at the DDSL Cup Finals weekend at the AUL Complex.
The 13 Premier brought the Liam Brady Cup back to the Club for the second time in 5 years when they defeated St Josephs Boys 2-0 (Cian Lynch & Ben Greene) in a game they dominated from start to finish and a win against Home Farm F C in their outstanding League fixture will see them clinch a League and Cup double to add to their All Ireland Cup and League success of last season.
The 10A Sunday extracted sweet revenge for two League defeats this season at the hands of Malahide United when they completely dominated their opponents in the Final of the DDSL Condron Cup running out emphatic 4-0 winners (Aaron Townley 2, Evan Pierce & Ryan Graydon). They too have an outside chance of League Honours to add to this success.
The success of the 10’s & 13’s was diluted somewhat by the failure of our 12 Premier & 15 Premier in the Finals of the Ryan Cup and the Conway Cup respectively going down in both finals to Home Farm F C having both defeated their opponents in their League encounters already this season. The 12’s fell behind early but were offered a chance of parity with a penalty during the first half but Richie Purdy’s effort was well saved by the Home Farm keeper and despite having numerous other chances through the game they couldn’t find the elusive breakthrough and as is always the case they were caught for a second towards the end, hopefully compensation awaits them next week in the Final of the SFAI Cup against St Josephs Boys and also the possibility of League Honours.
The 15 Premier who were forced to line out without their Captain Robert Pearson never got going in their Final against Home Farm F C and had only a Glenn McCabe goal late on as consolation as they came out on the wrong side of a 5-1 scoreline.
Our 13.3 (A1) clinced their League title on Saturday with a 5-1 win over Willows F C with goals from Craig O’Connor, Keith O’Hara, Curtis Durnin, Caleb Slane Long & Craig Boyne. This is a great achievement for all the hard work that has gone in with this team over the years and great credit is due to Marc Long, Brian McCabe, Brendan Kinsella and Derek Ryan and their squad of players.
Congratulations also go to our 15.2 team who won their League at the weekend. They had a fantastic season in which they went unbeaten – played 19 games – won 18 and only drew one. Great credit is due to Anto Devlin Paul Donnelly and Anto Devlin Junior and also their squad of players.
